Bought a new board on sunday and had a decent session on it 5 days later. That doesnt often happen, usually its the kiss of death. Hove was sunny with small swell rolling in. I was using a 5.9 North Disco with a JP RWW83. A great combo, so I'm well chuffed, easy planing, loose, not clattering along, the board loves to swoop round for the onshore wave ride, extra width keeps it planing at the cut back when the normal wave board might stall. Backside whallops were exceptional, full 180 degree arcs and lots of spray. Snappy gybes will take a bit of practise, I guess due to extra tail width. It stays flat on the surface rather than sinking in as required. Great afternoon, almost 2 hours in shorts, sun tan weather and mini rainbows in the spray.
